Our Neighborhood

SAS is located in the beautiful Green Lake/Wallingford neighborhood and from the street just ouside the door you can look east at the amazing Cascade mountain range, then turn west and have your breath taken away by the view of the Oympics. Mount Rainier is also visible after a short walk.

Green Lake Park, the neighborhood’s namesake, designed by the Olmstead brothers famous for Central Park in New York, is less than a mile from SAS.  It includes a 2.8 mile paved loop trail and a 3.2 mile dirt path around it for walking and jogging, also an indoor pool at the community center, tennis courts an aqua theater, paddle boat and canoe rentals, fishing, a 9 hole pitch and putt golf course, a great small theater for plays, baseball field, soccer fields, skate park, and in the summer lifeguard manned beaches with diving boards and a toddler wading pool.  The park has many dining and shopping options on the surrounding streets, including the Green Lake village area.

Tangletown, an area 4 blocks west of the SAS has a great selection of eateries, including the well renowed Kisaku Sushi restaurant, Mkt, a new Ethan Stowell restaurant, and Mighty O donuts famous for winning first place in the donut competition on Food Network (get there early on weekends for best selection).

If you want to explore Seattle using public transportation, there is a bus stop on Latona Ave in front of the SAS.

If you would rather drive, in less than ten minutes you can be at the University of Washington (2 miles away), the Space Needle (4 miles away), or watch the fish fly through the air at Pike Place Market (less than 5 miles away).
